Parliament has rubber-stamped the federal government's plan to reinstate the building industry watchdog.

Amendments to legislation to bring back the Australian Building and Construction Commission cleared the lower house with little fanfare on Wednesday night after it passed the Senate mid-morning.

"The ABCC is back. The rule of law is back. The bullying and the thuggery will come to an end," Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull told MPs.
