Parliament to sit on Friday

The House of Representatives will sit on Friday to deal with changes to the way senators are elected.

Coalition MPs have been told federal parliament will sit an extra day this week.

Chief government whip Nola Marino has sent a memo to MPs saying the House of Representatives will sit on Friday to deal with amendments to Senate voting rule changes after they pass the upper house.

Debate continues in the Senate on the Commonwealth Electoral Amendment Bill.
