Sydney's west, with its large migrant population, was once considered Labor's heartland, but as Julia Gillard's recent visit shows, residents are becoming frustrated.
Western Sydney political expert, David Burchell says the people of Parramatta are most concerned about transport, health and the cost of living.
"I think the roads are a big issue now, and also the crime in Sydney needs to be knuckled down on," one young man told SBS.
Another resident said: "I think a lot of people are finding life a little bit hard because of the cost of electricity and food prices are going up."

According to the Australian Electorial Commission, the Liberal Party needs 4.38 people, or 4,100 votes, to claim the seat of Parramatta.
Amarinder Bajwa from the United Indian Association told SBS that migrant communities have felt left-out of Labor policies.
"The problems that migrant communities have, or the Indian communities have, or the sub continent communities have, [is that] they are not really highlighted much in their agendas and it's not in the focus."
