Most residents evacuated from the flood-ravaged central western NSW town of Forbes have been given the all-clear to return home.
The partial order was given by the SES late on Tuesday night with floodwaters slowly receding.
Access has been restored to some streets in the southwest, north and east of the town, the SES said.
Meanwhile about 20 people have been ordered to evacuate the indigenous town of Willow Bend with the Lachlan River at nearby Condobolin peaking at 7.1 metres on Tuesday night.
"That's one of the highest peaks they've had in the area so it's still a concern to us," SES spokeswoman Sue Pritchard told AAP on Wednesday.
While evacuation orders remain for some low-lying parts of Condobolin and Forbes, residents will not have to wait long before returning home, the SES said.
As floodwaters recede, search crews will return for a sixth day to look for missing father Robert Linnane on Thursday.
The 49-year-old was last seen on Friday at a lake near Burcher, southwest of Forbes, where his car and boat trailer were found.
The submerged boat was spotted during aerial searches over the weekend but there has been no sign of him.
Floodwaters are also easing in Wagga Wagga, with the Murrumbidgee River peaking at 8.4m on Tuesday while major flooding continues at nearby Hay which recorded a reading of 10.2m on Wednesday afternoon.
The Bureau of Meteorology says no more rain is expected for the rest of the week, with only minor rainfall forecast for mid-next week.
