Jeetan Patel has reportedly followed fellow-New Zealand player Luke Ronchi into retirement from international cricket.

Several media outlets say the 37-year-old offspinner is pulling up stumps on an on again-off again Black Cap career following the Champions Trophy.

Fairfax media reports Patel doesn't want to make a fuss but has indicated he will focus on continuing a successful county career with Warwickshire.

Like Ronchi, who confirmed his retirement on Thursday, he would also like to keep playing domestic cricket for Wellington.

Patel played 24 Tests and 54 limited overs internationals.

His 65 Test scalps at 47.35 failed to match his dominant form over several seasons at Warwickshire.

Patel's career appeared over in 2014 when he turned down an international call up against the West Indies to focus on the county game.

However he won a recall on last year's tour of India and most recently was part of the Champions Trophy squad in England although he wasn't selected for any of New Zealand's three games.
