The sentencing of former surgeon Jayant Patel over the deaths of three patients has been adjourned until 3.30 this afternoon.
He had been due to be sentenced this morning after being convicted on Tuesday of the manslaughter of Mervyn Morris, Gerardus Kemps and James Phillips, and of causing grievous bodily harm to Ian Vowles.
The charges all relate to Patel's time as director of surgery at Bundaberg Base Hospital in Queensland between 2003 and 2005.
Patel, 60, spent Tuesday night in the Brisbane watchhouse, but was transferred yesterday to the Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre at Wacol in Brisbane.

A correctional services officer has confirmed Patel was taken to the medical centre for assessment, and said he'd remain under observation until his return to court today.
The charge of manslaughter carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment in Queensland.
