Patriots, Rams, Chiefs among NFL winners

New England Patriots have held on to beat the Chicago Bears while the Los Angeles Rams maintained their perfect NFL record and Kansas City Chiefs won.

Tom Brady has thrown for three touchdowns as the New England Patriots held on for a battling 38-31 win over the Chicago Bears in Sunday's NFL action.

A topsy-turvy affair marked by mistakes from both teams came down to the final drive when Mitchell Trubisky's hail mary at the end was caught by Kevin White one yard short of the end zone as the Patriots hung on.

Chicago held a 17-7 lead early in the second quarter, having gone 10-7 up with a remarkable touchdown from Trubisky.

Officially in the books as an eight-yard rush, NFL Stats said the quarterback actually covered just shy of 72 yards as he dropped back, scrambled and circled round before finding a path to the end zone.

Still, the Bears could not stop the Patriots moving to 5-2 at the top of the AFC East.

San Francisco 49ers were thumped 39-10 by the visiting Los Angeles Rams, who are the only unbeaten team at 7-0.

Jared Goff threw two TD passes, Greg Zuerlein kicked three field goals, and the Los Angeles defence forced four San Francisco turnovers.

Patrick Mahomes authoritatively recovered from his first defeat as an NFL quarterback by passing for 358 yards and four touchdowns as the Kansas City Chiefs trounced the visiting Cincinnati Bengals 45-10.

Drew Brees joined Brady as the only active quarterbacks to throw 500 touchdown passes in the New Orleans Saints' 24-23 win at the Baltimore Ravens.

Houston Texans took control of the AFC South with a 20-7 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, who wound up benching quarterback Blake Bortles after two fumbles.

Tennessee Titans lost a heartbreaker, 20-19, to the Los Angeles Chargers in London.

The defending Super Bowl champions slipped to a fourth defeat of the season as the Carolina Panthers rallied to beat the Philadelphia Eagles 21-17.

Cam Newton threw a one-yard touchdown pass to Greg Olsen with 82 seconds left as Carolina came from 17-0 down for the biggest comeback victory in franchise history.

Kerryon Johnson piled up 158 yards as the focal point of a powerful Detroit Lions offence in a 32-21 victory over the Miami Dolphins.

The struggling Indianapolis Colts routed the Buffalo Bills 37-5 ,the Minnesota Vikings scored a 37-17 win over the New York Jets, the Washington Redskins defeated the Dallas Cowboys 20-17 while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers overcame the Cleveland Browns for a 26-23 win.
