Rising NSW batsman Kurtis Patterson isn't dwelling on missing the Test selection many tipped him to get and is focusing on an imminent challenge in Hobart.

Patterson has passed 50 in the first innings of all three of the Blues' Sheffield Shield games this season, but will be facing up to Tasmania in Hobart this weekend rather than the Proteas in Adelaide.

"I haven"t given it much thought. It was great to be mentioned the way I was, leading up to this Test, but I certainly didn't place any expectations on it," Patterson said on Thursday.
