Patti Smith gives $10,000 to flood relief

Musician Patti Smith has generously given to flood relief organisation Rise Above The Flood after spending time performing at Byron Bay Bluesfest.

Punk icon Patti Smith has donated $10,000 towards the post-flood recovery in northern NSW.

Smith performed at Bluesfest in Byron Bay at the weekend, close to areas affected by the floods following Cyclone Debbie.

The musician chose to donate the sum to local charity Rise Above The Flood which is working to help those affected by the recent flooding.

Volunteers from the charity were also collecting money at the festival, by invitation, and the proceeds will be directed to flood assistance groups in Murwillumbah, Lismore, Northern Rivers and Mullumbimby in NSW.
