Pattinson to return for Vics in cricket

Victoria will regain James Pattinson this weekend and fellow paceman Peter Siddle is also set to play the last three days of the match against WA.

Paceman James Pattinson will return for Victoria's Sheffield Shield cricket final rematch against WA from Saturday at the MCG.

Fellow quick Peter Siddle is also scheduled to play in the last three days of the match, provided he is not needed in Perth with the Test squad.

But former Bushrangers captain Cameron White has failed to force his way back into the team, despite this week's Futures League century.

John Hastings will stay out of the team after suffering a shoulder injury last week at training.

Victorian coach David Saker admitted to frustration last week when Pattinson was rested for the abandoned Shield match against NSW in Sydney, saying it was a decision from the national team.

Pattinson has had a disastrous run of injuries, but has shown encouraging form so far this domestic season.

Siddle was 12th man for the first Test against New Zealand and will take Chris Tremain's place in the Victorian team for the last three days of the WA match if that happens again.

"Peter will travel back to Melbourne, providing there are no last minute requirements from the Australian squad," said Victorian chairman of selectors Andrew Lynch.

"There is a rule that allows us to do that, to ensure that Australian squad members are playing as much as possible.

"So Chris Tremain will play the first day (and) then will be out of the side."

White scored 144 against Tasmania on Wednesday in Hobart - the first time he has played in Victoria's second XI team since he was a teenager.

Hastings hurt his shoulder while batting ahead of the NSW match.

According to the team he has a small tear in his rotator cuff, but is expected to be available for the return match against WA from November 27.

Squad: Matthew Wade (capt), Fawad Ahmed, Scott Boland, Dan Christian, Travis Dean, Aaron Finch, Peter Handscomb, Glenn Maxwell, James Pattinson, Rob Quiney, Peter Siddle, Marcus Stoinis, Chris Tremain.
