Payne loses careless riding ban appeal

Michelle Payne will miss 11 meetings after failing in her appeal against a careless riding suspension.

Melbourne Cup-winning jockey Michelle Payne has failed to have a careless riding ban overturned.

Payne, who was outed for 11 meetings for causing interference in a race at Ballarat on Tuesday, misses Saturday's feature Bendigo meeting.

Katelyn Mallyon has replaced Payne on Nevis in the $150,000 Listed Listed Golden Mile (1600m).

Payne's suspension ends after the William Reid Stakes meeting at Moonee Valley on Thursday night.

The nine-race card at Bendigo the focus of racing in Victoria on Saturday and also includes the Listed Bendigo Guineas for three-year-olds and the $250,000 VOBIS Gold Rush for two-year-olds.
