Train commuters travelling to Melbourne have been warned to expect long delays, after a power outage at the city's main terminus brought services to a halt.
Commuters have been told to expect delays of up to 60 minutes caused by the power fault at Southern Cross Station in the city.
The outage plunged part of the station into darkness and stranded commuters travelling in and out of the terminus.
Train operator Metro said delays of up to an hour would hit both inbound and outbound trains on the Alamein, Epping, Frankston, Pakenham, Glen Waverley and Sandringham lines.
The Craigieburn, Upfield, Sydenham, Williamstown and Werribee services would also be affected.
V/Line passengers travelling to and from regional Victoria would also be hit.
"It also impacts every other train line across Melbourne," a Metro spokeswoman told Fairfax Radio Network.
Trains running through Caulfield would travel direct to Flinders Street, she said.
Part of the power had been restored, allowing some services to run through the city's underground loop service.
