Sprint queen Sally Pearson says she is still a month or two away from making a competitive comeback from her badly fractured wrist.
Despite feeling "ahead of schedule" compared to this time last year, Pearson still has no clear timeframe for a return to racing after breaking two bones and dislocating her wrist in a sickening fall at the Diamond League meet in Rome in June.
Pearson has been earmarked to make her comeback over the barriers at the Canberra Track Classic on February 20, but the 29-year-old isn't admitting as much if she is.
"When's that? I don't even know when that is," she said on Wednesday after the unveiling of a life-sized wax statue of herself in Sydney.
"I'm just doing the hard yards - November and December is really tough - and my coach will let me know when he wants me to race.
"I feel really good but it's still probably a month or two away."
The 2012 London Olympic champion insists the complicated surgery to repair her arm won't hinder her historic quest for back-to-back women's 100m hurdles gold medals in Rio de Janeiro.
"I feel ahead of schedule to where I was this time last year and really good about next year and I'm just waiting for my coach to let me know my schedule," Pearson said.
Pearson will be a permanent fixture at the all-new Sports Zone at Darling Harbour courtesy of a Madame Tussauds tribute.
