Pearson eager to show the world she's back

After two injury-wrecked years, Sally Pearson is ready to sound a pre-world championships warning as she heads to a number of northern hemisphere races.

Australian sprint queen Sally Pearson cannot wait to show the world she is fit and ready to put two injury-plagued years behind her.

The Olympic gold medallist departs on Wednesday night for a four-week overseas stint including competitions in England and Jamaica.

It's all part of Pearson's preparations for the IAAF World Championships in London in August.

A serious wrist injury ruled Pearson out of the 2015 world titles in China, while a hamstring injury ensured she also missed out on defending her Olympic 100m hurdle title at last year's Rio Games.

"At the moment everything's going really well, I'm actually quite excited this year because I know that I'm in good shape and I know that good things are to come," Pearson said.

"The competitions that are coming up are part of that preparation, so it's a matter of making sure I peak at that right time ... everything else leading up to that is really important."

The 30-year-old knows rival Brianna Rollins will not be up against her in London after the American was given a one-year doping ban in April.

Pearson doesn't think the American's absence will make her task any easier at the world titles though.

"It's just a matter of whoever is on the track is my competitor," she said.

"There's a few athletes that are either injured or out so I guess it's just a matter for me, it literally is, who is there on the day and who crosses that finish line first is the best athlete in the world."

Before jetting off Pearson helped announce her home track at the Super Sports Centre on the Gold Coast as the exclusive training venue for Australia's athletics team at next year's Commonwealth Games.

"To know that my athletics teammates will get the chance to experience the great facilities exclusively in their final stages of preparing is fantastic," Pearson said about the venue, which has recently received a $5-million Queensland Government upgrade.
