Peats eager for Titans time to start

Gold Coast new boy Nathan Peats says he cannot wait to start the next chapter of his NRL career at the Titans following his Parramatta exit.

Nathan Peats admits he didn't know Gold Coast's NRL ladder position when he agreed to join them mid-season.

Now Peats can't wait to get back onto the footy field and help the Titans to press for the top eight.

The 25-year-old hooker has been the centre of attention for the past 10 days due to his sudden move north from Parramatta to ease the Eels' salary cap woes.

He hit the training field for the first time with his new teammates on Thursday ahead of a debut for the Titans in Sunday's NRL clash with Penrith.

"I feel good, I've been preparing since I found out the news last week," Peats said.

"Besides the hassle of moving and getting the family up here, the prep's been the same as usual."

Peats was on the sidelines for the Titans' impressive 20-point win over the Sydney Roosters on Monday which has them in 11th place with a 4-6 record.

He said he saw plenty in that display to encourage him about his new home and had been made to feel extremely welcome by everyone.

"The boys performed well, they needed to win that game. I didn't realise how the ladder was at the start," he said.

"I don't really look at the ladder or draw for any team to be honest, even when I was at Parra.

"I just had a little glance after we won and didn't realise we were only two (points) out of the eight. That's how close the competition is at the moment.

"It (Gold Coast) is a young side who throw the ball around and you've got some experienced heads there in the middle of the pack too to lead the boys around."
