A pedestrian has been hit by an allegedly stolen car in Melbourne CBD and the driver is on the run.

The incident happened moments before another unrelated car crashed into a pole not far away.

The allegedly stolen car had been travelling along Flinders St when police attempted to intercept it about 5pm.

The Toyota Camry took off and struck three cars while travelling along A'Beckett St. A male pedestrian was also hit.

Police say the male driver and a male passenger fled the car and ran from the scene on foot.

The driver is said to be Caucasian, about 183cm tall with tied back hair and wearing a high vis top.

Police say the incident is not terror-related. Helicopters have been seen in the area searching for the driver.

"The driver of the allegedly stolen vehicle abandoned the car and fled on foot and is yet to be located," Victoria Police said.

Initially, police said four pedestrians were injured in the incident, this was later corrected to one.

Photos show a badly damaged silver Toyota Camry at the scene.

The second happened minutes later at 5.25pm when a car hit a traffic pole at the corner of Collins and Market streets.
