Peers loss ends Aussie tilt in New York

Australia's last man standing at the US Open John Peers - along with partner Henri Kontinen - has lost the men's doubles semi-final.

Australia's John Peers and his Finnish partner Henri Kontinen have bowed out at the US Open following a doubles semi-final loss to Jean-Julien Rojer of the Netherlands and Romania's Horia Tecau.

Top seeds Peers and Kontinen looked well on track to add to the Australian Open crown they won in January when they took the first set 6-1. It was a tighter affair from then on, however, with Rojer and Tecau prevailing in a tiebreak to force a decider which they then won 7-5.

Kontinen and Peers also lost in the semis at Wimbledon. Rojer and Tecau will next face Marc Lopez and Feliciano Lopez in the final.
