Peever's rollercoaster ride as CA chairman

David Peever's resignation as Cricket Australia chairman ends a dramatic three years in the sport.

HIGHS AND LOWS OF DAVID PEEVER'S CRICKET AUSTRALIA CHAIRMANSHIP

* October 2015 - Replaces Wally Edwards as chairman, after having sat on the board since 2012. His credentials include being the former general manager of Rio Tinto Australia and having sat on the executive committee of Queensland Cricket.

* November 2016 - A fifth consecutive Test defeat and a flogging at the hands of South Africa prompts an overhaul of the Australian team, and Rod Marsh's resignation as chairman of selectors. Peever and his board appoint Trevor Hohns as his replacement.

* 2017 - A long stalemate emerges between Cricket Australia (CA) and the players' association over pay disputes. At the heart of the issue is the players' desire to keep a revenue-sharing model, Peever and other CA officials want replaced. Peever pens an angry and public rebuttal to criticism from the Australian Cricketers' Association (ACA) as negotiations go beyond the June 30 deadline and an Australia A tour of South Africa is cancelled. Chief executive James Sutherland steps in and peace is finally brokered on August 3 after eight months of negotiations.

* March 2018 - All hell breaks loose following the ball-tampering saga in Cape Town. CA bans David Warner and Steve Smith for 12 months and Cameron Bancroft for nine while coach Darren Lehmann resigns. Peever and his board later endorse Tim Paine as the new captain and Justin Langer as coach and announce the now infamous review into culture of both the team and CA.

* April 2018 - Peever and his team announce a six-year TV rights deal worth more than $1 billion, despite it being negotiated through one of the most tumultuous periods in Australian cricket history. It's not without dramas though, with Peever labelling the Ten Network "bottom feeders" in an email which prompts him to offer his resignation. It is rejected.

* June 2018 - James Sutherland offers his notice to resign as chief executive, and Peever and his board later appoint Kevin Roberts - the chief negotiator in the pay deal - to take over.

* October 2018 - Is re-elected on a three-year term as CA chairman at the annual general meeting, just days before the results of the cultural review are announced. Peever denies there are delays in their findings, but is heavily criticised when the review is released and finds CA to be arrogant, disrespectful and responsible for the normalisation of verbal abuse. He also insists the player bans won't be overturned, a point challenged by the ACA the following day.

* November 1, 2018 - Peever resigns as chairman and is replaced by Earl Eddings in the interim, following a week of intense pressure and criticism. The clean out following Cape Town appears complete, with Lehmann, Sutherland and Peever gone, high performance manager Pat Howard set to step down next year and Smith and Warner suspended and removed from leadership positions.
