Penrith want May video scandal sorted

The NRL integrity unit's investigation into the alleged Tyrone May lurid videos sorted quickly, just two weeks out from their first game of the regular season.

Penrith want the Tyrone May sex-tape scandal sorted as soon as possible as the Panthers utility braces to become the next player punished by the NRL.

May was flung into the spotlight on Friday when two videos alleged to involve him - believed to have been filmed last year - were leaked onto social media.

The NRL's integrity unit has wasted no time beginning their investigations and it's understood they could want to speak to May and other participants in the video who are not players.

The league is hopeful the saga can be sorted before season's kick off on March 14, with the inquiry to continue this week with the help of the club.

May was stood down from Saturday's trial against Parramatta, however, it's believed Penrith have no concerns about the consensual nature of the videos and are confident everything filmed involved no criminal wrongdoing.

But both they and club sponsors are incredibly frustrated by May's actions, which are not at all a good look and have put them in the headlines for the wrong reasons.

The club hinted in a statement on Saturday that they were not afraid to apply disciplinary action if required and the Panthers could pursue heavier sanctions than whatever the NRL hands out, including a ban.

"It's in the hands of the integrity department. I'm sure they'll do a good job and hopefully get a resolution quickly," coach Ivan Cleary said on Saturday night.

May appears to be involved in a video where he can be heard calling a woman a "ratbag" as he pushes the back of her head during a sex act with another man.

In the other video a man is seen to physically strike a woman across the chest and put his hand around her through while in the act of sex.

May's face is not visible in either of the videos but his distinctive forearm tattoo is.

It comes after NRL CEO Todd Greenberg fined Canterbury recruit Dylan Napa 10 per cent of his 2019 salary for a series of leaked videos earlier this year.

In making the Napa decision on Friday, Greenberg indicated that any further videos of players leaked would receive a heavy monetary fine if they were filmed before March of this year and didn't include anything illegal.

However, anything filmed after's Friday announcement would likely be met with a suspension.

May shapes as a crucial piece of Penrith's bench this year after the departure of Tyrone Peachey, set to take up the utility role given his ability to play in most positions.
