Pentagon lockdown after metro shooting

The Pentagon imposed a security lockdown Thursday following a reportedshooting incident in the metro station that serves the US militaryheadquarters.

The Pentagon imposed a security lockdown Thursday following a reported shooting incident in the metro station that serves the US military headquarters.

Television news reports said shots were fired in the station and three people were wounded, including two police officers.

"The Pentagon is in lockdown due to an incident at the metro station," said a Pentagon spokesman, declining to elaborate.

Besides serving the Pentagon, the station is a major transportation hub for bus service into surburban northern Virginia and is crowded during the evening rush hour.

Fox News reports the two officers were involved in the incident taken to George Washington Hospital in Washington DC. Their condition is unclear.

The suspect was also reportedly taken into custody.
