Queensland will look to inflict the first Super W rugby defeat ever on NSW in Sunday's grand final after narrow losses to their arch enemies in their last two meetings
NSW won a gripping inaugural grand final 16-13 in overtime in Sydney last year and shaded Queensland 15-12 in the round-robin phase of the 2019 tournament at Leichhardt Oval, where the 2019 season decider will be played.
All three of Queensland's losses across the first two years of the competition were against NSW, who have won each of the nine games they have contested against their four domestic rivals since the inception of Super W.
Queensland will attempt to play a fast running game and expect NSW to try and slow them down.
First-placed NSW had a week off while Queensland had to win an extra playoff game against the Brumbies to secure the second grand final spot.
"I think it (the playoff) was a bit of a blessing in disguise," Queensland captain Kiri Lingman said.
"It was definitely our best game of the season and a chance for us to put a lot of things together we were lacking before this weekend.
"I think we're peaking at the right time and that was evident from the Brumbies game."
Her NSW counterpart Ash Hewson, who kicked the title-winning penalty in last year's grand final, also believed her team was coming to the boil at the right time.
"Us going through undefeated is a credit to our team, but a grand final is a completely different game," Hewson said.
"We have developed week in, week out so we're only getting better. We're just hoping to hit the pinnacle come Sunday.
"They are very big up front and have got a lot of skill out wide so we'll have to match them across the park, but it's going to be a tough game."
