A US woman has been dubbed "Permit Patty" after she was caught on camera calling the police on an eight-year-old black girl for selling water.
The girl was selling bottles of water in front of an apartment building in San Francisco over the weekend when she was targeted.
In a video shared on Twitter, a woman said her young cousin was reported to police because she didn't have a permit to sell water.
“An 8-year-old selling water in front of her apartment building where she’s lived her whole life is NOT a reason to call the police,” the woman captioned the video.
The video shows the girl's mother confronting the woman, who was white, while she was on the phone with police.
"And illegally selling water without a permit?" the woman says.
"On my property," the girl’s mother replies.
The woman who shared the footage referred to the complaining woman as #PermitPatty, with social media users slamming the complainer online.
The woman - Alison Ettel - is the CEO of TreatWellHealth, an edibles company that specialises in cannabis options for pets, according to local reports.
She told USA Today she only pretended to call police on the girl.
It comes after a white woman dubbed "BBQ Becky" for calling the police about a black family's BBQ at a park in California, and a runner was branded "Jogger Joe" for throwing out a homeless man's belongings.
