Ellyse Perry has produced a stunning all-round captain's display to pilot the Sydney Sixers to a convincing 32-run away victory over Perth in their WBBL clash.
After winning the toss and batting first on Sunday in warm conditions at Lilac Hill, Perry was dominant with the bat, ball and in the field.
The Sixers, after posting 2-183, dismissed the Scorchers for 151 to consolidate top spot on the ladder.
Perry thumped an unbeaten 80 off 54 deliveries to take her season aggregate to a league-record 617 (at an average of 88.14), moving past the previous benchmark held by Scorchers captain Meg Lanning, who compiled 560 runs in 2015/16.
Perry was content to play second fiddle at times as Alyssa Healy (44, two sixes) and Ash Gardner (42, three sixes) teed off, but the Sixers' skipper cranked up late to set the home side a formidable total.
Perry opened the bowling and took 2-21, capturing Scorchers opener Amy Jones in her first over before castling Heather Graham for a golden duck.
She ran out Lauren Ebsary with a direct hit from mid-on before pouching a catch on the circle. Everything Perry touched turned to gold.
"It was a good opportunity to spend a bit of time in the middle, to be honest, on such a nice deck and pretty small outfield," she said. "It was good fun."
Lanning (76 off 51 balls) was heroic in the Scorchers' run chase but, aside from a cameo from Mathilda Carmichael (19), there wasn't enough help.
"Ideally, if we could have gone (restricted the Sixers to) 160 or under, that would have been a good effort but they got off to a flyer and had wickets in hand towards the end which always makes it difficult," Lanning said.
"We tried our best - it just wasn't to be."
With Elyse Villani and Nicole Bolton not playing, the target always looked out of reach.
Sarah Aley (2-12) and Lauren Cheatle (2-19) provided invaluable support with the ball for the irrepressible Perry.
