A large bushfire is burning out of control and could threaten residents and their homes less than 20km north of Perth's CBD.
A 'watch and act' warning has been issued for people in the southern part of Warwick and northern part of Hamersley in the City of Joondalup.
The bushfire is moving fast in a southwesterly direction, is out of control and unpredictable, says the Department of Fire and Emergency Services.
Burning embers are likely to be blown around homes, spot fires are starting up to 200 metres ahead of the fire.
The two to three hectare fire has been burning since 11am (WST) and firefighters are actively fighting it.
Residents have been told to leave now or get ready to actively defend homes if they are in an area bound by Glendale Rd and Dugdale St to the west, Ellersdale St to the north, Lloyd Drive to the east and Ardleigh Crescent between Glendale Ave and Rannoch Circle in the south.
"There is a possible threat to lives and homes as a fire is burning in the area and the conditions are changing," the Department of Fire and Emergency Services said in a statement.
The fire started in the Warrick Open Space near the intersection of Beach Rd and Erindale Rd in Warwick.
People have been advised to be extremely careful if they are caught driving in the area, to close doors and windows and turn off evaporative air conditioners at home, but keep water running through the system if possible.
