Perth public hospital workers to strike

Hospital workers from the Royal Perth and Fremantle hospitals will walk off the job on to protest against government's job cuts.

Hundreds of nurses and other hospital staff will stage a strike against the state government's planned job cuts to the health sector in Perth.

Hospital workers, including nurses, cleaners, orderlies, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and administration staff at the Royal Perth and Fremantle hospitals will walk off the job at 1pm on Wednesday.

The workers are members of the United Voice and Health Services Unions (HSU).

The Perth government said in October that the health system was overstaffed by several hundred public workers, and that it would face significant job cuts in the coming eight months.
