Members of Perth's Sri Lankan community with gather at St Mary's Cathedral for a service to honour those affected by the Easter Sunday terror attacks.

Chris Jayatilake, chair of the Sri Lankan Catholic Association in Western Australia, has extended an open invitation to people of all faiths to attend on Saturday afternoon.

The service will pray for those suffering great loss and hardship and will pray for peace and an end to senseless violence.

The mass will be led by Father Ajith Perera from Colombo.

St Mary's Cathedral Dean Reverand Sean Fernandez said the images of suffering from Sri Lanka had torn at the hearts of all Australians.

"We open our arms, hearts and the cathedral to our brothers and sisters in the Sri Lankan community who are grieving after such barbaric acts of violence were perpetrated against so many innocent people," he said.

The death toll from the Easter Sunday attacks now stands at 253 with about 500 wounded after a series of bombs were detonated at churches and hotels across Sri Lanka.
