Wigan forward Eddy Pettybourne has been charged with a grade B dangerous tackle on Sydney Roosters winger Shaun Kenny-Dowall during the Super League champions' World Club Challenge match in Sydney.

Pettybourne, who arrived back in England with his Warriors team-mates on Monday, was put on report for the high tackle two minutes before half-time of Saturday's match, which Wigan lost 36-14.

The former Wests Tigers player, who missed the second half of the game at the Sydney Football Stadium with a bicep injury, has until 11am on Tuesday (2200 AEDT) to submit an early-guilty plea and avoid a hearing.
