British police have arrested a News of the World reporter and an ex-news editor on suspicion of phone hacking.
Chief reporter Neville Thurlbeck was detained after voluntarily attending a London police station for questioning over allegations he was involved in interceptions of voicemail messages.
Former News of the World assistant editor Ian Edmondson was arrested while attending another London police station.

His solicitor, Eddie Parladorio, said on Tuesday: "I can confirm Mr Edmondson was arrested today. He attended voluntarily at the police station. Other than that I have no comment."
Mr Edmondson was sacked by the newspaper in January after it conducted its own internal investigation.
The initial police investigation into phone hacking in 2007 led to the convictions of former News of the World royal editor Clive Goodman, and private investigator Glenn Mulcaire, who was employed by the newspaper.
Police have recently seized bags of files and documents at the house belonging to Ian Edmondson, while they have also reportedly been searching the offices of the News of the World.
The newspaper has said it will not tolerate wrongdoing, and will co-operate fully with the investigation.
