Former top-five AFL draft pick Jarrod Pickett has quit Carlton to return home to be with family in Western Australia.
Pickett, who was picked fourth overall by GWS at the 2014 draft, didn't play a game for the Giants in two seasons, but managed 17 senior appearances for the Blues following a trade in 2016.
He didn't feature this season after he underwent surgery on a ruptured patella tendon in December, with the club citing his lack of motivation to continue at AFL level as the reason for the mutual decision.
"Both parties have made the decision to part ways now in order to allow Jarrod to get back home to his family," Blues list manager Stephen Silvagni said.
"We will provide Jarrod with the necessary assistance he requires to begin the next chapter of his life and we wish him all the best for the future."

The club will continue to support him in his recovery from the surgery he required after a training mishap in the last session before the Christmas break.
Pickett's departure continues the mixed results of Silvagni's recruiting raids on the GWS playing list that he helped build.
Former Giants Mark Whiley, Kristian Jaksch, Liam Sumner, Jed Lamb and Rhys Palmer have all left the Blues, while Will Setterfield, Andrew Phillips, Lachie Plowman, Caleb Marchbank and Matthew Kennedy remain.
