'Pies lose Langdon to injury in AFL

Collingwood are uncertain whether Taylor Adams will recover from his knee injury in time for Saturday's match against Carlton.

Collingwood will be without defender Tom Langdon for about a fortnight as their wretched early-season run of AFL injuries continues.

They are also uncertain about the availability of Ben Sinclair and star onballer Taylor Adams ahead of Saturday's match against arch-rivals Carlton.

Langdon hurt his ankle in Sunday's 10-goal loss to West Coast, while Sinclair suffered a head knock and Adams was a late withdrawal because of a knee injury.

"He's not too bad, but he's pretty sore," Magpies football manager Neil Balme said of Langdon.

"It's called syndesmosis - the big words we don't like too much.

"We're going to miss him."

Balme added that Sinclair did not seem too bad after the Eagles match, but was still showing concussion symptoms.

"We'll be very conservative about how we treat him," he said.

And Adams will have to prove to the Magpies over the next couple of days that he will be right to take on Carlton.

"He's a pretty quick healer, Taylor, but he's not coming on quite as quickly as we'd like," Balme said.

"He may be able to train this week - he'll have to train well and get through a couple of tests."

The same applies to Travis Varcoe, who is sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Jarrod Witts has recovered from his hand injury, but will resume through the VFL.
