Pilot, 80, avoids serious injury after crashing light plane into a tree

An 80-year-old pilot has miraculously avoided serious injury after flying his light plane into a tree moments before it was due to land.

The incredible footage, caught on a surveillance camera, shows the light plane colliding with a tree moments before it was due to land in Connecticut, in the United States.

The pilot of the 1981 Cessna plane was attempting to land at a nearby airport when he appears to veer sharply and lose control.

The small plane then collided with a tree in a carpark, before flipping upon impact.

Incredibly, the elderly male pilot escaped with just minor injuires.

He was the only one on board, according to WKBW News.

The footage was captured by local Plainville Police, which is directly in front of where the plane crashed.
