An XA42 plane with an aerobatic team has crashed at an air show in northern China, killing the pilot, media reports say.

A pilot has died as his plane crashed at an air show in northern China, state media reports say.

China Central Television posted footage on Twitter of a plane spiralling downwards and crashing at the show near the city of Zhangye in Gansu province.

An XA42 plane associated with a Shenyang-based aerobatic team failed to pull out of a dive while performing a stunt and crashed, the Xinhua news agency reported.
