Plane used in search for violent escapees

A stolen car two violent escapees are driving in Western Australia has been spotted multiple times since the brazen escape from a security van.

Police are using a chartered plane to help search for two violent prison inmates who escaped from a security van at Geraldton Airport.

Cameron John Graham, 22, and Kelden Edward Fraser, 23, escaped at 1pm (WST) on Friday while on transfer from Geraldton Prison to Perth.

Both were last seen wearing prison greens and are believed to be travelling in a silver/grey Toyota Kluger registration 1DZ G627, stolen from the airport.

There were multiple sightings of the getaway car on Friday night and early Saturday morning.

According to Western Australian Police, Graham and Fraser were seen refuelling the stolen vehicle at BP Cue on 10.30pm (WST) on Friday night.

After the sighting was report to police, officers spotted and chased the car on the Great Northern Highway.

However, police lost sight of the car about 15km north of Mount Magnet.

At 2.30am (WST) Saturday police sighted the car on Mullewa-Mt Magnet Rd.

A police chase ensued at high speed but officers lost sight of the car on Mardi Springs Rd.

Police are using a chartered plane to search the area where the escapees were last seen.

"All businesses, stations in the area need to be on the lookout for these persons and the vehicle," police said in a statement.

"Also secure all vehicles on properties in the area."

Police have warned people not to approach the men as they are violent.

Graham was last year jailed for 11 years after breaking into a woman's home in Perth, threatening to murder her sleeping children and then raping her - before forcing her to drive to an ATM and withdraw cash.

Perth District Court was told the woman and her family had since moved overseas to try escape the trauma of the attack.

Graham is described as being 170cm tall, of dark complexion, medium build, with brown eyes and short brown hair.

Fraser, who is on remand, is 180cm tall, of dark complexion, medium build and with brown eyes and black hair.

Both were last seen wearing prison greens.

Anyone sighting the vehicle or any person they believe to be either of the men should call police on 131 444.
