New Zealand international Alex Glenn hopes players have learned their lesson ahead of this weekend's NRL Auckland Nines in the wake of the league's alcohol-fuelled off-field dramas.
Glenn admitted players must start taking responsibility for their actions after a horror week prompted a warning to all 16 clubs ahead of the season-opening tournament.
Days after Mitchell Pearce apologised for his Australia Day bender, Valentine Holmes was dumped from Cronulla's Nines squad after breaking an Emerging Origin camp curfew and being fined for obstructing police and public nuisance on Sunday morning.
Holmes and Melbourne's Cameron Munster copped 12-month bans from the Queensland Rugby League for breaking camp curfew.
It prompted NRL integrity unit boss Nick Weeks to email all 16 club CEOs this week to warn the game does not need any further controversy as the season approaches.
Glenn flew out with Brisbane for Auckland on Thursday morning under no illusions of what behaviour was expected at the Nines.
Asked if he hoped players had learned their lesson ahead of the Nines, Glenn said: "Yeah, it's a reminder that anything can get out of hand quickly.
"It's about being aware of what you are doing and having some common sense.
"We all get shown the right direction and tips on how to conduct yourself but at the end of the day it comes to the player himself."
