Accused Australian drug mule Cassie Sainsbury will know in 11 days whether a Columbian judge accepts a plea deal cutting her jail time to six years.
A Bogota court on Friday heard both the defence and prosecution agree to the terms of the deal, with a judge retiring to consider it, and expected to announce a decision on November 1.
The 22-year-old's family, back in Adelaide, told Nine News the deal "couldn't have gone any better".
"(I'm) very happy that she got another chance at the plea bargain," her sister Khala Sainsbury told the network.
("I'm) wrapped with the six."
Under the deal, Sainsbury could be released after just 18 months, with time already served and good behaviour taken into account, the Nine Network said.
In April, the young South Australian was caught at Bogota's El Dorado International Airport about to board a flight back to Australia.
Narcotics police found 5.8 kilograms of cocaine stuffed into 18 bags of headphones hidden in luggage after a tip-off from the US Drug Enforcement Agency.
Sainsbury has been detained at Bogota's El Buen Pastor jail, known for its overcrowding and annual beauty pageants.
"I believe she'll be OK. She's strong," her sibling said.
The accused drug mule initially faced decades in prison, with an earlier plea deal rejected in August.
