Malcolm Turnbull has accepted an apology from cabinet minister Michaelia Cash over her failure to declare an investment property on time.
The prime minister said he was disappointed Senator Cash was late in registering an investment property in Perth bought late last year, reportedly for $1.4 million.
"She's had an oversight here. She's very sorry about it and I've accepted her apology," Mr Turnbull told Melbourne's 3AW radio on Monday.
The apology follows revelations in Fairfax media that Senator Cash did not declare her mortgage over the investment property on the official register of interests for almost four months. She also failed to disclose the property itself for more than two months.
Under the rules Senators must disclose updates to their interests within 35 days or be found in contempt of the Senate.
"I have spoken to Michaelia and she's mortified and obviously I'm disappointed that she missed the deadline," Mr Turnbull said.
Senator Cash's failure to declare the property is the latest Parliamentary scandal over failing to comply with disclosure rules.
Labor MP David Feeney last year failed to declare a $2.3 million negatively geared home.
