Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has arrived in the Laos capital for another round of talks, in which he hopes to emphasise economic and security partnerships in the region.

Marking the first time he has come to Laos in his role as PM, Mr Turnbull got a red carpet welcome when he touched down in Vientiane on Tuesday afternoon at around 3.40pm (6.40pm AEST).

Mr Turnbull has said he will be discussing how to deepen Australia's "economic and security partnership" with the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) during the three day visit.
