Independent senator Glenn Lazarus is encouraged new prime minister Malcolm Turnbull is building bridges with the upper house crossbench.
Senator Lazarus admits he is actually looking forward to returning to Canberra for briefings from the government on its legislative agenda, predicting a different kind of relationship with Mr Turnbull after Tony Abbott's "herding chickens" and "feral" approach to the crossbench.
"He's really determined to make sure that we are in the loop," Senator Lazarus told ABC Radio on Friday.
