PM confident Libs will hold all WA seats

Prime Minister Scott Morrison is about to begin a blitz of Liberal seats in Western Australia to shore up votes ahead of the federal election.

The federal Liberal Party will hold on to all 11 of its West Australian seats in the looming national election, Prime Minister Scott Morrison has declared.

Mr Morrison on Thursday kicks off a three-day campaign in the state to highlight the party's "core" values, such as self-reliance, to voters ahead of the May poll.

"We intend to hang on to all of our seats ... because we have the records and the plans that I think support that outcome," he told The West Australian in an interview.

Mr Morrison said WA voters can trust him because of his success in changing the way GST receipts are carved up, delivering more to the state.

"I made them a pledge that I would fix the GST for Western Australia, and this is something that had eluded previous prime ministers and treasurers and I delivered," he said.

Aside from its 11 seats, the Liberals are eyeing a possible win in the marginal Labor-held seat of Cowan, which MP Anne Aly holds by a margin of 0.7 per cent.

However, Labor is targetting five seats - which could determine the outcome of the federal election along with certain seats in Queensland - including Hasluck, Pearce, Swan, Canning and Stirling.

Mr Morrison warned WA voters Labor "doesn't support the resources sector".

"West Australians remember it vividly from the mining tax days and they just can't help themselves from going and poking the mining industry," he said.

The Liberals' safest WA seat is Curtin, with a margin of 20.7 per cent, which is being vacated by Julie Bishop. A new candidate is yet to be named.
