PM defends coalition's climate policy

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull insists his party has a good climate policy, despite leaving it out of his re-election pitch on Sunday.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has defended his decision not to mention climate change in his opening re-election pitch.

The issue was not raised on Sunday when Mr Turnbull announced an election would be held on July 2.

"Climate change is very important. We have a good climate change policy. We are meeting our targets," he told reporters in the marginal Liberal seat of Petrie in Brisbane on Monday.
