PM hails Beazley's time in Washington DC

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has patted on the back outgoing Australian ambassador to the US Kim Beazley on his time in Washington DC.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has given Kim Beazley top marks for his time in Washington DC as Australian ambassador to the US.

The former Labor leader wraps up his six year stint this week and will be replaced by former treasurer Joe Hockey.

"Kim has been a steadfast supporter and eloquent advocate of our alliance and I have no doubt that he will continue to be so in the years ahead," Mr Turnbull told the Center for Strategic and International Studies on Monday (US time).
