Treasurer Scott Morrison says Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull will have a "good story" to tell his G20 counterparts about the Australian economy when they meet in Germany over the next couple of days.

Recent positive data on retail sales, unemployment and job advertising reinforced the "better days ahead" story for the economy, he said.

"Also around the world, we are seeing the global economy turn the corner which I am sure will be much of the discussion at the G20 as the prime minister heads there later this evening," he told reporters in Sydney on his way to a regular meeting with the Reserve Bank.
