Prime Minister Scott Morrison has been accused of playing politics over the Queensland floods as he turns his attention away from endangered pandas to dead cattle.

While federal Labor pledged $1.3 million a year for another five years to keep Wang Wang and Fu Ni in Adelaide if it wins government, Mr Morrison didn't bat an eyelid.

"I have been talking to (Premier) Steven Marshall about this, but I'll simply say this: My priority at the moment actually - with all due respect to people in South Australia and pandas - is cattle lying dead on properties in north Queensland," Mr Morrison said.

"That's where my focus is right now. If the Labor Party wants to focus on pandas, that's fine, I'm focused on dead cattle on the ground in north Queensland."

After hoping the coalition would match Sunday's announcement, Senator Penny Wong went on the attack saying Mr Morrison was politicising the disaster.

"It's appalling that Mr Morrison is playing politics with the terrible floods in Queensland. We all stand with those affected by these disasters and he knows that," she said.

"If he actually listened to South Australians he might understand why (the) announcement matters to our community and to our tourism industry."

The agreement between the federal government and Zoos SA's to keep the pair is due to expire in November and the window for a baby this year has shut, prompting calls for an extension.

Adelaide is the only zoo in Australasia to host giant pandas and one of 22 worldwide.
