The Federal Government is pushing ahead with its Malaysia asylum seeker swap, unveiling plans to legislate to ensure that it's legal.

In the wake of the High Court's rejection of the agreement, Cabinet has decided to amend the Migration Act.

But Prime Minister Julia Gillard is facing strong opposition from the Greens, and some in her own party.
