PM rules out NZ deal for Manus refugees

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull says sending hundreds of asylum seekers on Manus to New Zealand would send the wrong signal to people smugglers.

Malcolm Turnbull has ruled out doing a deal with New Zealand to resettle hundreds of asylum seekers who are on Manus Island in Papua New Guinea.

Doing so would send the wrong signal to people smugglers, the prime minister said on Friday.

"It would be used as a marketing opportunity," he told radio 3AW.
