Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has again refused to be drawn on the US presidential race, leaving it up to the American people.

He might be in the USA but Malcolm Turnbull has again refused to buy into the country's presidential race and what it means for Australia.

The prime minister, who is in New York for the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly ahead of a trip to Washington, would not be drawn on Donald Trump's latest comments on opponent Hillary Clinton on Saturday.

"I try to avoid being a commentator on Australian politics, let alone outside of Australia, but I have no doubt the American people will make a very wise choice in November," Mr Turnbull told reporters.
