The government will introduce legislation, possibly on Wednesday, to change existing migration laws that will allow it to resurrect the asylum-seeker swap deal with Malaysia.

The High Court struck down the deal in early September, casting doubt as well on the legality of possible offshore processing centres in Nauru and Papua New Guinea.
