Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull will wear a black tie in Parliament to mark the All Blacks' Rugby World Cup final win.

Malcolm Turnbull will don a black tie in parliament after a Rugby World Cup final bet with the New Zealand prime minister.

The Australian prime minister had said it would be "cool" to see John Key wearing a gold tie in honour of a Wallabies win.

But after Australia's defeat on Sunday Mr Turnbull, responding to a Twitter follower who asked if he intended honouring the bet, said: "I am afraid it does bro".
