PM Turnbull approval rating turns around

The prime minister has witnessed a lift in popularity over the past month, but Labor continues to lead in two-party terms.

Malcolm Turnbull's net approval rating has staged a remarkable turnaround, according to the latest Essential poll.

The net rating, which deducts voter disapproval from approval, narrowed from -12 to -3 over the past month.

Labor leader Bill Shorten's net approval also narrowed from -13 to -9, while the opposition continued to lead the government 54-46 in two-party terms.
