PM urges social media fight against IS

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull says the social media campaign against the Islamic State group isn't good enough.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull believes anti-Islamic State forces are failing to respond quickly enough to online terrorist propaganda.

Speaking at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington on Monday afternoon (US time), Mr Turnbull said the social media campaign against IS needed considerable improvement to combat the group's sophisticated use of technology.

"As ISIL uses social media for its propaganda, we must respond rapidly and persuasively with the facts."
